+1 Drain Water Per Click Beginner Guide

The loop in one paragraph

Everything in +1 Drain Water Per Click runs on two currencies. Water is what you spend to empty a pool, and clicking is how you make it — by default each click trains your Water level by one. Cash is what you spend on everything else, and it comes from the fish sitting at the bottom of a pool once the water is gone. Train, drain, collect, sell, buy the upgrade that fixes your slowest step, repeat.

The mistake that costs new players the most time is drifting between menus with a half-drained pool behind them. Finish one pool completely before you go shopping: a half-drained pool is progress left on the floor, and the full run is the only thing that tells you whether your real problem is Water gain, drain speed, travel time or backpack room.

Controls

On PC the scheme is short enough to memorise in one sitting:

ActionInput
MoveW, A, S, D
JumpSpacebar
InteractE
Train WaterLeft mouse button

The experience description states it supports all devices, so mobile and console players get the equivalent touch and controller bindings — the click that trains Water becomes a tap.

Your first run, in order

  1. Redeem the codes before you do anything else. All eight currently reported codes hand out pets, and pets multiply the Water you gain per click. Starting with a pet in an active slot is a different first hour from starting without one. The codes page has them, along with which source backs each one.
  2. Train Water until the nearest pool is worth visiting. There is no prize for over-training — just get enough that the pool in front of you will actually empty.
  3. Walk to the pool and drain it completely. Use your Water on it until it is empty.
  4. Go to the bottom and collect. Fish only appear once the pool is emptied. Pick up everything your backpack will carry.
  5. Return and sell. The Shop button warps you back to the hub area, where fish become Cash. Keep an especially good catch for the aquarium instead — displayed fish pay out every minute.

What to buy first

Spend on the step that is actually slowing you down, not on whichever button lit up:

  • Pump if pools are taking too long to empty. Pumps multiply Water per click and, per public guides, take precedence over pets when you are optimising Water gain.
  • Backpack space if you keep walking home half-full.
  • Walk speed if the round trip itself is the tax.
  • Display-stand space only once you are actually running an aquarium.

The full ordering, with what each one changes, is on the boost priority tiers page and the upgrades guide.

Three things worth knowing early

Training pads exist. Both the hub and parts of the play area have pads that train Water for you automatically, and you can keep clicking on top of them. They are the supported way to gain Water while you are not actively clicking — which is also why this site does not list executor scripts.

Fish are not all worth the same. Rarity sets the base value and a mutation multiplies it, up to 20x for the rarest one. Learning to read the label above a fish before you move on is the single highest-value habit in the game; see mutations.

Rebirth is a reset, not a bonus button. It grants permanent multipliers to both Water gain and Cash rate, but it sets your Water level back to zero. Read the panel before you confirm — rebirth guide.

What has not been published

There is no official Trello board, no creator wiki and no published table of pool names, Area unlock thresholds, Pump prices or Rebirth requirements. Any site showing you those numbers — including a page that looks exactly like this one — is guessing. Where this guide has a number, the source is named; where it does not, the in-game panel is the answer.
